How to select an SBK high precision transformer?

1. Determine the load and total capacity

List all the precision equipment powered by the SBK high precision transformer, such as spectrometers, electron microscopes, measurement standards, high-end ADC/DAC chip analog power supplies, etc.

Calculate the capacity: Add up the steady-state VA values of all the loads and reserve sufficient margin for inductive loads (it is recommended that the total capacity be 1.3-1.5 times the steady-state total sum). Make sure to confirm that the standard model of the SBK series high precision transformer has this capacity level.


2. Determine the voltage and frequency

Input voltage: Determine according to the on-site power grid (such as 220V single-phase, 380V three-phase).

Output voltage: Must be precisely matched with the rated input voltage of the load equipment (such as 220V ±0.5%).

Frequency: 50Hz or 60Hz.


3. Confirm the installation method


Confirm whether the SBK high precision transformer is installed in a rack, placed vertically, or integrated into a custom chassis. Check the external dimensions and weight.

Cooling conditions: The transformer has high efficiency, but there are still losses. Ensure that the installation location has good ventilation, and reserve forced air cooling space if necessary.

Environmental parameters: Confirm whether the temperature, humidity, and cleanliness of the installation environment are within the allowable range specified in the product's specification sheet.

1. Abnormal States

Internal faults: inter-phase short circuits on windings, inter-turn short circuits, single-phase grounding faults

External faults: inter-phase short circuits on leads, single-phase grounding faults of bushings


2. Abnormal Operations

Overcurrent caused by external inter-phase short circuits

Overcurrent and neutral point overvoltage caused by external single-phase grounding short circuits

Overload caused by exceeding the rated capacity


3. Protective Measures for Internal Faults

Internal faults of SBK high-precision transformers generate arcs and high temperatures, which will quickly damage insulation and windings. The core protection is "instantaneous tripping".

Immediately (usually <30ms) issue tripping instructions to cut off all power supplies on the input and output sides of SBK high-precision transformers. This is the most core and fastest protection for protecting the transformer itself.

The Pt100 sensor pre-buried in the hot spot of the winding of SBK high-precision transformers cooperates with the intelligent temperature controller to alarm when the temperature exceeds the limit and trip when the dangerous temperature is reached.


4. Protective Measures for External Faults

When the short-circuit current exceeds the set high threshold, the circuit breaker trips instantly (<100ms), quickly cutting off the severe short circuit near the source.

Monitor the vector sum of three-phase currents (zero-sequence current), sensitively detect single-phase grounding faults of bushings or leads, and alarm or trip according to the set value.


5. Protective Measures for Abnormal Operations

The transformer's own voltage stabilizing system is the first line of defense, but when the power supply side is abnormal, the protection device should act as a backup and trip when the voltage is severely exceeded.
